how much is this truck worth, got a 305 178k miles, good condition

ton of miles for a 305 was not chevy best motor to begin with, its all relative my guess is you may be rebuilding some parts in the not to distant future if it looks good, runs good, drives good a grand maybe Personally, I would go test drive that truck first thing in the morning after sitting overnight. Open the hood before you start it, then fire it up and listen to what the motor sounds like, if it makes a lot of rattling and banging and knocking and blows big clouds of smoke, this is what I would expect. If it does not do any of that, it may be in decent shape. shut the hood quickly and try to drive that truck with only a minute or two of warm up time. If you can get that old pickup to run drive, get up to freeway speed easily (55) and stop in the first 5 or 10 minutes, it may be ok, drive it for a good 30 to 40 minutes, if it holds up ok, you may have a decent truck. good luck. I would expect that old tired transmission to barely move when cold, so if you ask the owner not to warm up his pickup when you come over early to test drive it, and he warms it up good anyhow, he may be hiding a worn engine or old tranny problem. best of luck, most of those pickups that year were pretty good ol pickups, and there are still a lot around. I prefer the 350 motor however.
