WHICH TRUCK SHOULD I TURN INTO A 4x4 MACHINE?

I cut my teeth on Chevys but I would be the first to suggest you forget the Z71. The wheel base is too long for any serious off-road competition. The Ford Bronco would be a better choice. But of course the 1966 to 1977 has far more superior off-road capabilities than 1978 and newer Broncos. There is a Chevy though that can give the best of the off-road beasts some rowdy competition and that is the K5 Blazer.

How much horsepower does my truck have?

I have a 1998 Chevrolet Ext Cab Z71 with a 5.7L Vortec 350 V8 in it with 140,000 miles. I do not have anything aftermarket in my engine. I have true dual exhaust so that might help boost the horsepower, i'm not sure. If someone could tell me how much horsepower i have that would be great. thanks

True dual exhaust gives you about 5 to 10 extra horsepower. But it also depends on how well the truck has been maintained it might not have 255hp anymore due to normal wear and tear.
